Mokume gane is a japanese term meaning "wood eye metal". It refers to the patterns developed in the lamination process. The metals, colored golds and sterling in this case, are fused together in a kiln then forged. Gouges are cut into the metal to reveal the different colored layers. The metal is then forged flat again and the laborious process repeated to develop the patterns. We use any combination of 18K yellow, 14K pink, 14K palladium white golds and sterling silver. Custom orders for mokume gane bands take from two to six weeks to finish. Please call 520 529 9102 for the current backlog. Please check the "Pieces Now Available" page for bands that are in stock and "Earrings".

These bands are HOT! This photo also illustrates that all the mokume bands have a seam where they are joined together after forging to form a ring. After the wedding the forging goes on to form a marriage... |
